Moss, mould, algae, and lichen are living organisms that will take root and sprout on any infrastructure unless the surface in question is cleaned regularly. The roof is often neglected when it comes to cleaning because it’s hard to get to and often out of sight, making it more vulnerable to organisms such as mould and lichen, both of which can cause a roof to decay, resulting in cracks and leaks.
Algae and moss can also creep into the spaces underneath the tiles of your roof, loosening them and eventually causing them to break free. These organisms can grow rapidly, particularly mould, which can develop on a roof within 24 hours. To avoid build up, it is recommended that you have your roof cleaned at least once a year.
